Pitching your tent beneath the pines of Corsica’s east coast, a few steps from the sea, with cool shade overhead and the cicadas as your only soundtrack: that’s what we offer at U Casone. If you’re looking for a tent pitch in Corsica where you can still breathe, where space isn’t measured to the last square metre and where nature is part of the stay, you’ve come to the right place. Here’s everything you need to know about our best pitches.
Real tent camping is a certain idea of what a holiday should be. No walls, nothing superfluous, just the canvas, the ground, and the great outdoors that begins the moment you unzip the door in the morning. In Ghisonaccia, on Corsica’s east coast, we’re lucky enough to offer tent pitches that have kept that spirit: generous, shady and just 700 metres from the sea. In this article, we take you on a tour of our most beautiful pitches and give you all our tips for choosing yours.
Pitches of more than 100 m²: space above all
The first thing campers notice when they arrive is the space. Our tent pitches are more than 100 m². That may seem like just a number, but on site you can physically feel the difference. You can put up a large family tent, set out the table and chairs, park the car right alongside, hang the washing between two trees, and still have room to make your holiday corner your own without your neighbour brushing your elbow.
Too many campsites these days squeeze their pitches together to fit more in. We care about the opposite. A large pitch means privacy, children playing without disturbing anyone, an aperitif at sunset without feeling you’re in someone else’s living room. It is, quite simply, the luxury of room to breathe.
📍 Did you know? A 100 m² pitch is roughly the size of a small flat. Enough to set up a four- to six-person tent, an awning, a dining area and the car, while still keeping grass underfoot.
The shade of the pines: a treasure under the Corsican sun
If there’s one thing people don’t always realise before going camping in Corsica in summer, it’s just how precious shade is. The east coast enjoys nearly 2,800 hours of sunshine a year and some 300 days of fine weather: that’s wonderful, but in July and August, pitching your tent in blazing sun comes at a price. The canvas heats up, the inside becomes an oven, and the afternoon siesta turns into an ordeal.
At U Casone, our grounds are a real wood. Tall maritime pines and broadleaf trees spread a dense canopy above you, filtering the light into golden dapples and leaving a natural coolness everywhere. Your tent stays liveable even in the hottest hours. You sleep better, you live better outdoors, and the scent of sun-warmed resin accompanies every one of your days. It’s rare and precious shade, and we cherish it like the apple of our eye.
Choosing your pitch according to the time of day
Not all pitches get the sun at the same time. Some enjoy the soft morning light and stay shaded in the afternoon — ideal for those who like to have their coffee in the sun and rest in the cool afterwards. Others, more open, appeal to those who want to dry towels and swimsuits quickly after the beach. When you arrive, don’t hesitate to tell us how you spend your days: we know our grounds inside out and will point you to the pitch that suits you.
700 metres from the sea, along the canal
From your pitch, the sea is just 700 metres away. And the path there is worth the trip on its own: it runs alongside our canal, in the shade, sheltered from the blazing sun. You stroll along, towel over your shoulder, flip-flops on your feet, the children running on ahead. In a few minutes, you go from the coolness of the pines to warm sand and the translucent water of the eastern coast.
This canal is something we’re rather proud of. It flows straight into the sea, and you can even paddle down to the beach by kayak from the campsite. For tent campers who enjoy a gentle adventure, it’s a poetic way to start the day: paddling beneath the foliage until you emerge onto the blue of the Mediterranean.
💡 U Casone tip: hire a kayak for half a day (€15 for a single, €20 for a double) and reach the sea via the canal. It’s one of the most beautiful ways to experience how close our wooded grounds are to the coast.

Tent camping: who is it for, and for what kind of stay?
Our tent pitches welcome very different kinds of guests, and that’s what makes the atmosphere here so rich. Here are the stays they suit best.
Families
Room for a big tent, the car alongside, the children’s playground close by and easy access to the beach. Tent camping remains the little ones’ favourite adventure.
Couples
A small tent beneath the pines, peace and quiet, sunsets and the sea close at hand. Simplicity has something deeply romantic about it.
Friends
Several tents side by side, evenings of pétanque, table tennis and volleyball, and the pizzeria to round off the day. Tent camping with friends is freedom.
Solo travellers
Space, tranquillity and a real community of campers. You arrive alone and leave with familiar faces and a head full of memories.
Every comfort close at hand
Tent camping doesn’t mean giving up comfort. On site, you’ll find two outdoor swimming pools to cool off in after the beach, a restaurant, a bar, a pizzeria and a mini-market for forgotten items and morning shopping. So you can travel light: no need to bring everything or plan everything, the essentials are here.
In the evening, when the heat eases and the light gilds the pine trunks, campsite life gently comes alive. People meet up at the pool, share a pizza, and the children play until nightfall. That’s the rhythm of tent camping: slow, generous, clock-free. And here, your dogs are welcome all season long — they’re part of the family, so they’re part of the holiday.
Activities around your pitch
Between swims, there’s plenty to do without ever leaving the grounds. Pétanque under the trees in the late afternoon, table tennis, volleyball for the more sporty, table football for lively evenings, and the playground to keep the children busy while the parents catch their breath. And for those who want to explore further, Corsica’s east coast is full of treasures: wild beaches, inland villages, the Fiumorbo mountains, the Étang de Diane and its oysters. Your tent then becomes the ideal base camp for exploring.
Our tips for preparing your tent camping holiday in Corsica
A few years of welcoming campers have taught us what makes the difference between a pleasant stay and a memorable one. Here are our recommendations.
- Book for May, June or September if you can. The campsite is quieter, prices are gentler, and the heat is kinder under canvas. The sea is still beautiful and all the activities are available.
- Bring a thick groundsheet and a good mattress. The ground beneath the pines is pleasant, but good insulation from the ground makes all the difference to how well you sleep.
- Bring sun protection for your beach hours: shade is guaranteed on your pitch, but the coast itself is generously sunny.
- A head torch or a lantern makes evenings under the trees much more pleasant once night has fallen.
- Don’t bring everything. With the mini-market, the restaurant and the pizzeria on site, you can travel light and improvise as the mood takes you.
💡 U Casone tip: if you’re arriving by ferry with your gear, bear in mind that pets generally travel for €15 to €30 depending on the company and the season. Remember to book their place at the same time as yours.
Why choose U Casone to pitch your tent
U Casone means “the big house” in Corsican, and that’s exactly the spirit we cultivate. People come here the way they’d visit friends who love their island and want to share it. Our tent pitches aren’t just plots to rent: they’re little corners of paradise beneath the pines, with space, shade and the sea within walking distance.
Tent camping at U Casone means rediscovering what matters most on holiday. In the morning, the sun breaking through the canopy. At midday, the scent of the maquis carried on the breeze. In the afternoon, warm sand at the end of the shady path. In the evening, the rustle of the pines and children’s laughter around the pizzeria. It’s simple, it’s genuine, and it’s deeply Corsican.
Whether you come as a family, as a couple, with friends or on your own, whether you’re putting up a huge family tent or a lightweight ridge tent, you’ll find a pitch to suit you here, and a welcome that could only be Corsican. All that’s left is to choose your dates.
