There are mornings in Corsica when happiness takes no effort at all. The sun is already filtering through the pines, the cicadas are tuning up, and the smell of canvas warmed by the morning light mingles with the scent of the maquis. From the wooden deck of your safari tent, the sea is right there, barely 700 metres away. That’s glamping at Camping U Casone — and once you’ve had a taste, you’ll never see a Corsican holiday in quite the same way again.
Glamping: a new way to experience Corsica
The word “glamping” has become part of every holidaymaker’s vocabulary in recent years, and for good reason. A blend of glamour and camping, it describes the desire to reconnect with nature and the authenticity of sleeping under canvas — without giving up comfort, space, or that little touch of luxury that means you come home from holiday truly rested.
In Corsica, the idea takes on a special dimension. The Isle of Beauty is, above all, an island of sensations: the dry heat of summer, the deep green of cork oaks and pines, the unreal blue of the Tyrrhenian Sea, and starry nights like few you’ll see anywhere else in France. Glamping here isn’t just another trend — it’s a way of truly settling into the landscape, of becoming part of it rather than admiring it from a balcony.
That’s the spirit in which we designed our safari tents at Camping U Casone, in Ghisonaccia, on Corsica’s east coast. A place to stay where nature seeps in through every pore, yet you want for nothing.
The safari tent: an unusual place to stay with all the qualities of a great one
The safari tent was born in the great nature reserves of East Africa — those vast canvas camps pitched in the heart of the savannah for wildlife watchers. It has since crossed the oceans and reinvented itself on some of the world’s most beautiful campsites, and we’re proud to offer you a version worthy of its Corsican setting.
Here, our safari tents stand on wide wooden decks, raised above the ground. A bamboo and pale wood frame supports thick canvas in an ochre-cream shade — exactly the colour of the sand on our beaches, exactly the tone that catches the late-afternoon light so beautifully. Inside, they’re spacious, bright and airy.
💡 Did you know? The name U Casone means “the big house” in Corsican. Our safari tents embody that spirit: a home open to nature, generous in space and in welcome alike.
A complete living space under canvas
What sets a safari tent apart from an ordinary camping tent is the living space and the quality of the fittings. Here, you don’t squeeze into a damp sleeping bag — you set your suitcases down in a real living space, with room to breathe, to unpack, to relax.
From sunrise, the wooden deck becomes your outdoor living room. It’s where you enjoy your morning coffee, where the children play before heading to the pool, where you round off the evening under the stars. The interior is designed to make you feel at home — the natural tones of the canvas, the warmth of the wood, the little details that remind you that you’re in Corsica and nowhere else.
🏕️ Private wooden deck
Every safari tent has its own raised deck — your private outdoor space for meals, siestas and starry evenings.
🌿 Bamboo frame & ochre canvas
Natural, elegant architecture that blends perfectly into the campsite’s wooded grounds. The warmth of natural materials, the coolness of the pines’ shade.
🌊 700 m from the sea
On foot, by bike or by kayak along our canal — the beach is always within reach, with no need ever to take the car.
🐕 Dogs welcome
Your four-legged companions are welcome in our safari tents all season long. Corsica is even more beautiful on four paws.
Ghisonaccia and Corsica’s east coast: the perfect setting for glamping
People talk a great deal about the Gulf of Ajaccio, about Porto-Vecchio and its famous coves, about Saint-Florent and its understated charm. But Corsica’s east coast — the Plaine Orientale — has something the other regions don’t quite have: a sense of space, a light and a gentle pace of life that recall the summers before everything got so hectic.
Ghisonaccia, our village, lies at the heart of this golden coastline. The sea here is calm and sheltered, ideal for children and swimmers of every level. Fine sandy beaches stretch for kilometres, yet they’re never as packed as those in the south. Behind them, the first foothills of the Corsican mountains are already tracing their blue shadows on the horizon.
Our campsite sits in extensive wooded grounds — the kind of shady parkland that’s rare in Corsica at the height of summer, where umbrella pines and broadleaf trees create a precious natural coolness. This is where our safari tents are set up, sheltered from the sun yet close to everything.
The canal: your path to the sea
One of U Casone’s special features, the one our regulars always mention first, is the canal. A peaceful waterway that runs alongside the campsite and flows into the sea, barely 700 metres away. You can stroll along it in the morning, your feet in the cool sand. Or you can hire a kayak and glide gently down to the beach, stroke after stroke, watching the kingfishers and herons perched on the banks.
🛶 U Casone tip: Hire a kayak at the campsite (€15 for a single / €20 for a double, per half day) and paddle down the canal to the sea. It’s one of the gentlest, most quintessentially Corsican experiences you can enjoy from our campsite.

Campsite life around your safari tent
Choosing a safari tent at Camping U Casone also means choosing a complete setting for your whole holiday. Because between one swim and a sunset stroll, there’s a whole campsite life unfolding at a Corsican pace — slow, flavourful and generous.
The pools and play areas
Our two swimming pools are the beating heart of the campsite during the day. Children spend hours in them while parents settle onto sunloungers in the shade of the pines. It’s where holiday friendships are forged, and where little ones learn to swim without even being asked, carried along by the infectious enthusiasm of the other children on the campsite.
For anyone who loves games and activities, the campsite offers pétanque, table tennis, volleyball and table football. There’s something for every age and every taste — and for those moments when you’re just looking for something to do after your siesta.
Eating Corsican, eating well
Our restaurant is open from mid-June to mid-September, 7 days a week. It serves homemade dishes using local produce — Corsican charcuterie, mountain cheeses, fresh fish from the east coast. Once a week, it’s time for the event evening: moules-frites, paella, spit-roast veal… These evenings are the most convivial moment of the week, when the whole campsite gathers around the same table under the open sky.
The pizzeria is there for quicker evening meals — and when the craving for an ice cream strikes, our bar offers Magnum, Cornetto and other cool treats for those afternoon munchies.
🌸 May – June
Corsica awakens. The scents of the maquis are intense, the beaches almost deserted, the temperatures ideal. The best time for anyone fleeing the crowds.
☀️ July – August
High season in Corsica. The sea is at 26°C and the campsite is lively and welcoming. Daylight lingers until 10pm. The island at its peak.
🍂 September – October
Gentleness returns. The beaches empty out and the light turns softer and more golden. For families, couples and hikers, it’s often the favourite time of year.
Safari tent or chalet: which unusual accommodation should you choose at U Casone?
We offer several types of accommodation at Camping U Casone, and the question often comes up: safari tent or wooden chalet? Each has its own character, and the choice often depends on what you’re looking for from your Corsican holiday.
The safari tent is for those who want to feel their surroundings. Canvas that lets in the sounds of the night — the cicadas, the wind in the pines, the birds at dawn. The warmth of the wooden deck first thing in the morning. That gentle, almost imperceptible contact with Corsican nature. It’s a place to stay that asks you to let go just a little — and repays you a hundredfold.
The Wooden lodge or the chalet are for those who want more walls and more privacy, or who are travelling with babies or with people for whom a steady temperature matters. They share the safari tents’ natural spirit, their wooden materials and their setting in our wooded grounds.
Whichever you choose, we welcome dogs in all our accommodation — because at our campsite, a genuine family welcome includes its four-legged members.
📍 Good to know: U Casone is open from 1 May to 8 October. Whatever time of year you choose, you’ll find a different setting and atmosphere — and always an authentically Corsican one.
Glamping in Corsica: the questions everyone asks
Is glamping suitable for families with young children?
Absolutely. Our safari tents offer plenty of space for children to settle in comfortably. The raised wooden deck is a natural play area — little ones love organising their games there, having lunch there, and watching the lizards scurry through the pines. The campsite itself is designed with families in mind: secure pools, play areas and a warm, friendly atmosphere.
What if the weather turns?
Corsica’s east coast is one of the sunniest areas in France, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year. Rainy days do happen, especially in May and October — but they’re rare in high season. And when they come, the thick canvas of our safari tents turns them into music: rain on the canvas, wind in the pines, a book and a hot coffee on the deck. Children often decide it was the best day of the holiday.
Can you really bring your dog to a safari tent?
Yes — and we encourage it. Our safari tents are open to dogs all season long. Corsica’s east coast is also a particularly pleasant area for walking a dog: the beaches are quieter than elsewhere, and the paths along the lagoons and the canal are perfect for long morning walks.
How far is the beach from a safari tent?
700 metres on foot. By bike, it’s under 5 minutes. By kayak along the canal, it’s one of the most enjoyable ways to reach the sea — and one of our favourite activities to suggest to our guests.
- Ghisonaccia beach: 700 m on foot from the campsite
- Ghisonaccia village (market, restaurants, grocery shops): 3 km
- Étang de Palo (birdwatching, kayaking, fishing): 10 min by car
- Vizzavona forest and hiking (GR20): 45 min
- Aléria (Roman archaeological site): 15 min
- Bastia and Haute-Corse: 1 hr 15
- Porto-Vecchio and southern Corsica: 1 hr 30
Why choose U Casone for your glamping holiday in Corsica?
There are other campsites in Corsica offering unusual accommodation. Luxury estates with tents fitted with air conditioning and high-speed Wi-Fi, places that look more like boutique hotels than campsites. That’s not what we are.
U Casone is a family campsite, in the deepest sense of the word. A family that has run this place for years, knows its regulars by their first names, and takes pride in cooking for its guests 7 evenings a week and hosting an event evening every week that brings everyone together around the same table. A campsite with a Corsican soul — generous, straightforward and deeply attached to its land.
Our safari tents are part of that spirit. They offer the comfort of real accommodation, the poetry of a night under canvas and the freedom of a private outdoor space — all in wooded grounds that are rare on Corsica’s east coast, a few hundred metres from a turquoise sea. It’s simple. It’s genuine. It’s who we are.
