Taking a baby camping in Corsica is entirely possible — and one of the loveliest ideas for a first family holiday. The secret comes down to three things: shade, calm and a gentle sea. At U Casone, in Ghisonaccia on the island’s east coast, our large wooded grounds 700 metres from the sea tick all those boxes naturally. Here, quite simply, are our tips for making your stay with your baby as relaxed as can be.
Many new parents hesitate: isn’t Corsica too hot, too far, too complicated with a little one? The truth is that Corsica’s east coast is probably the gentlest part of the island for travelling with an infant. The sea is shallow and warms up early, the beaches slope gently, and our campsite gives you the essentials within pushchair reach: natural shade, two swimming pools, a mini-market and a restaurant on site. No need to plan everything or carry everything. Here, you slow down, and your baby sets the pace.
Why Corsica’s east coast is ideal for a stay with a baby
When you travel with a baby, what you look for above all is a reassuring environment: coolness in the hottest hours, little hustle and bustle, and short journeys. The eastern plain of Corsica, where we’re based, brings these conditions together better than many more popular destinations.
Shade, and more shade
This is the most important point with a little one, and it’s exactly what our campsite is known for. U Casone (“the big house” in Corsican) stretches across extensive grounds planted with tall pines and broadleaf trees. At midday, when the Corsican sun beats down, the shade of the foliage reaches right down to the ground and brings the temperature down by several degrees. While the cicadas sing, your baby can nap in the cool, on a blanket laid out under the trees, without ever being exposed to the full glare of the sun. This dense, natural shade is a rare and precious thing in a Mediterranean summer — and a real gift for an infant’s delicate skin.
A calm, shallow sea
Corsica’s east coast offers long sandy beaches that slope gently into the water. No breakers and no sudden drop: the sea stays calm and clear for several metres, a real natural paddling pool for your baby’s first dips. From our campsite, the beach is just 700 metres away, and the path there runs alongside the canal, in the shade — a pleasant stroll with a pushchair, even in the middle of the afternoon. You set off at a leisurely pace, hat on your head and parasol under your arm, without dreading a long walk in the blazing sun.
📍 Did you know? The little shady path linking the campsite to the sea follows the canal. Not only does it protect you from the sun on the way, but the canal flows straight into the sea — turning your daily walk to the beach into a real moment of cool.
When to go to Corsica with a baby
With a little one, the choice of month makes a huge difference. You’ll naturally want to avoid the fierce heat of midsummer and the peak crowds. The good news is that our season runs from 1 May to 8 October, so you have lovely windows before and after the summer peak, when everything is gentler and calmer.
May & June
The mildest months. The heat stays reasonable, the maquis is fragrant, the campsite is calm and the sea is starting to warm up (20–22°C in June). Ideal for a first stay with an infant.
September
Our favourite for families with babies. The sea is still warm (24–25°C), the light turns golden, the days are peaceful and the atmosphere serene. A perfect rhythm for little ones.
July & August
Hotter and livelier. It’s doable thanks to our shade and the pools, but you’ll need to plan your timings carefully: beach and walks in the morning or late afternoon, rest in the shade during the scorching hours.
Our honest advice: if your plans allow, go for June or September. You’ll enjoy a gentler Corsica, a quieter campsite and a sea that’s still pleasant — dream conditions for discovering the island at a baby’s pace.
Which accommodation to choose with a baby
The right accommodation changes everything when you’re travelling with a little one. You want a proper bed, a cool corner for naps, running water and a fridge for bottles and baby food. Several of our options fit the bill, depending on your wishes and budget.
Mobile homes and chalets: comfort ready to go
For a first stay with a baby, our mobile homes and chalets are often the most reassuring choice. You’ll find proper bedrooms, a kitchen area with a fridge, a private shower room and a shady terrace from which to keep an eye on your baby at play. You can unpack the essentials, sterilise bottles and keep baby food cool: day-to-day life stays simple, just like at home, but in the heart of Corsican nature.
Wooden lodges and Luxury lodges: extra space
If you like to have room and real comfort, our Wooden lodges and Luxury lodges offer generous space and a lovely wooden terrace. Enough to set up a travel cot without tripping over each other, and to enjoy the mild evenings while your baby sleeps peacefully inside.
Safari tents: adventure made gentle
For parents dreaming of a stay close to nature without giving up comfort, our safari tents — ochre canvas tents on a wooden deck — are a lovely option once your baby is a little older. You sleep under canvas, lulled by the cicadas, with all the charm of glamping and a real bed beneath the pines.
💡 U Casone tip: remember to book accommodation with a fridge if you use formula milk or jars of baby food. It’s the detail that makes days so much easier. And good news for families with four-legged members: dogs are welcome all season, including in our rental accommodation — so the whole little tribe can come.

On site: everything that makes life easier for new parents
The great strength of a camping holiday with a baby is having everything to hand without getting back in the car. At U Casone, the way we’re organised is designed to let families breathe.
Two swimming pools
Ideal for your baby’s first splashes away from the waves, and for cooling off in the hottest hours without leaving the campsite.
Mini-market
Forgotten nappies, water, milk, fruit, morning top-ups: the on-site shop saves plenty of car trips with a tired child.
Restaurant & pizzeria
In the evening, you can relax: sit down at the restaurant or share a pizza (baked in an electric oven) while your baby dozes in the pushchair.
Playground
A play area for children, where the older ones can let off steam and your baby can watch the world go by, in the shade of the trees.
And while your baby naps beneath the pines, parents can take turns to unwind: a game of pétanque, table tennis, table football, or simply a coffee in the shade. For some time together, when family arrangements allow, you can also treat yourselves to a kayak outing on the canal (€15 for a single, €20 for a double, per half day) — the canal flows into the sea and offers a peaceful interlude on the water.
Your baby’s suitcase: our Corsican checklist
Travelling light with a baby is an art. The idea isn’t to bring everything, but to plan the essentials for a hot, sunny climate — the rest you’ll find on site or in Ghisonaccia, a few minutes away. Here’s what we suggest slipping into your bags.
- Maximum sun protection: a wide-brimmed hat, sunglasses, UV-protective clothing, baby sun cream and a beach tent or parasol.
- Ways to cope with the heat: a water mister, light cotton bodysuits, a thin sleeping bag for the night, and plenty of water to stay hydrated.
- Sleeping: a travel cot if your accommodation doesn’t provide one, a light sheet and a night light.
- A gentle day at the beach: a small paddling pool or a shaded bouncer, sand toys and a towel that doubles as a windbreak.
- The first-aid kit: thermometer, saline solution, infant paracetamol, plasters — even though there’s a pharmacy close by in Ghisonaccia.
- An all-terrain pushchair: ideal for the shady path to the sea and for walks across the plain.
💡 U Casone tip: there’s no need to overload the car or the ferry with packs of nappies and bottled water. Our mini-market and the shops in Ghisonaccia have you covered. Travel light — you’ll thank us when it’s time to pack the boot.
Planning your days around your baby’s rhythm
The best advice we can give new parents is this: don’t rush. Corsica isn’t going anywhere, and U Casone is made for taking your time. With a baby, the ideal day naturally falls into two gentle windows — the morning and the late afternoon — leaving the scorching hours for shade and naps.
In the morning, when the air is still cool and the light filters through the pines, it’s the perfect time to walk down to the beach along the canal path. The sea is calm, almost lukewarm, and your baby can dip their toes in a few centimetres of clear water. Around midday, you stroll back to the campsite, have lunch in the shade, and the afternoon belongs to the nap: your baby sleeps in the cool while the cicadas lull the whole park. At the end of the day, when the sun softens and the canvas of the tents turns golden, you head out again — a gentle swim in the pool, a stroll, dinner at the pizzeria. Nothing forced, nothing rushed.
Around the campsite, if you feel like exploring, the area also lends itself to gentle outings with a little one: Ghisonaccia market for local produce, the Étang de Diane and its oyster farmers a few kilometres away, or a simple walk in the neighbouring pine forest. But there’s no obligation: very often, with a baby, the most beautiful programme of all lies between the shade of the trees, the pool and the nearby sea.
A first trip that leaves lasting memories
Going to Corsica with a baby doesn’t mean giving up on holidays: it means experiencing them differently, more slowly, more intensely. It’s the first feel of sand under tiny feet, the scent of the maquis and sun-warmed pines, the lapping of the pool at sunset and the silence of the park at nap time. At U Casone, our family campsite has been designed so that these first memories are built in complete peace of mind, between the kindly shade of the trees and the gentleness of the Corsican sea.
Would you like to give your little one their first Corsican holiday, in the shade of the pines and a stone’s throw from the sea? We’d be delighted to welcome you to our big house in Ghisonaccia.
